Just can't get over the hump! The Mavericks certainly felt that way Tuesday night at the Eagles gym in
their 67-53 lost Tuesday night. After spotting Georgetown an early 13-2 lead in the first quarter, the
Mavericks quickly regained their composure and was able to close the quarter trailing 18-12.
The Mavericks opened the second quarter with successive baskets to cut the lead to 18-16 with 6:09 left in
the period. Following a Georgetown timeout, the Eagles went on a 6-0 run and upped its lead to 24-16. The
Mavericks again got themselves back in it, going on its own 4-0 run, cutting the Eagle lead to 24-20 with
3:35 left in the period, but still trailed Georgetown 27-25 at half time.
In the third, the Mavericks finally pulled even at 32 with the Eagles at the 5:33 mark and had chances to
finally take the lead, but despite shutting down Georgetown over the next two minutes, went 0-5 from the
foul line during that span, and missed three successive shot attempts, while watching Georgetown push it
lead to 45-34 after three quarters, en route to its 67-53 win over the Mavericks.
Anthony Davenport led the Mavericks in scoring with 17 points followed by Javian Johnson's 15.
The Mavericks, now 6-2 in district play, return home Friday night to take on Vista Ridge.
