Sure, the country may be in a recession, but Maverick fans can feel good in knowing K-Mart is open and
ready for business!
Kyle 'K-Mart" Martin, and the rest of the Mavericks gave Stony Point the business Friday night, in taking a
44-28 win over the Tigers, and stay atop district 16-5A with a 6-1 mark.
With the Mavericks leading 8-5 after the first quarter, Martin outscored the entire Tiger team in the second
quarter by himself. Back to back three's by Martin quickly pushed the Maverick lead to 14-7 at the 5:25
mark. After a Tiger score, Martin this time slashed his way to the basket to score, upping the Maverick
lead to 16-9 with 3:55 left in the quarter. A layup by LC Alexander made it 18-9 Mavericks before Martin
connected again on a short jumper, giving the Mavericks a 20-12 half time lead, en route to the victory.
Martin led the Mavericks in scoring, finishing with 18 points, with Alexander and Anthony Davenport each
chipping in 10 apiece.
The Mavericks now prepare to take on Georgetown this Tuesday night at the Eagles gym.
